“I häte calling Rory my friend, He’s so selfish” Scottie Scheffler drops bombshell statement on Rory Move to Arrest Late Grayson Murrays parents.

Scheffler had a brief brush with the law in mid-May.

Rory McIlroy has a cheeky solution for halting Scottie Scheffler’s dominant season: a brief stint behind bars. The Irish golf star humorously suggested that the reigning Masters champion’s only setback this year came from an unexpected stay in a Louisville jail cell.

“Only thing that took him away from winning a golf tournament was being in a jail cell for an hour,” McIlroy quipped during a press conference leading up to the U.S. Open, as reported by PGA Tour Digital.

Scheffler, fresh off his fifth win of 2024 at the Memorial Tournament, was arrested outside Valhalla Golf Club on May 17 due to a misunderstanding over traffic regulations.

A misunderstanding sent Scheffler behind bars

The 27-year-old was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from a traffic officer. Despite this, he was released in time to make his second-round tee time at the PGA Championship.

Despite his brief legal trouble, Scheffler tied for eighth at the PGA Championship with a 13-under score for the weekend. The charges against him were dropped weeks later, allowing him to continue his spectacular season unscathed.

Reflecting on his own performance, McIlroy, who tied for 12th at the PGA Championship with a 12-under, also shared his perspective on his career goals. When asked if there were still objectives he wanted to achieve, McIlroy gave a surprising answer: “Not particularly.”

McIlroy’s elusive fifth major

“I’m really proud of my body of work over the past 15 years and everything that I have achieved,” McIlroy explained. “Whether it be season-long titles, individual tournaments, or majors. Obviously, getting my hands on a fifth major has taken quite a while, but I’m more confident than ever that I’m right there, that I’m as close as I’ve ever been.”

As the golf world gears up for the U.S. Open, running from June 13-16, all eyes will be on both Scheffler and McIlroy. Scheffler aims to continue his winning streak, while McIlroy seeks to add another major title to his impressive career.

One thing is certain: with McIlroy’s playful remarks and Scheffler’s resilience, this tournament promises to be as entertaining off the course as it is on.
