BREAKING NEWS : Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin officially announced his retirement due to…..

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers added to their active roster for Week 14, elevating outside linebacker Kyron Johnson to the active/inactive list against the New England Patriots.

Johnson, an outside linebacker, was elevated last week to help the special teams unit. The former Philadelphia Eagles’ sixth-round pick in 2022 has been with the Steelers for most of the season but did not make his 2023 debut in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals.

He’ll be viewed as special teams help again, playing both kick and punt coverage.

The Steelers did not elevate an inside linebacker or offensive lineman like they were expected to. Guard Isaac Seumalo (shoulder), center Mason Cole (neck) and inside linebacker Elandon Roberts (groin) are all listed as questionable for the game, but without adding to either position, Pittsburgh could be indicating all three playing against the Patriots.

If they do not, the Steelers could look at offensive tackle Dylan Cook as an option to provide depth on the interior behind rookie Spencer Anderson and Nate Herbig, who would start for Seumalo and Cole.

Pittsburgh will head into the primetime matchup with just three inside linebackers – Mykal Walker, Mark Robinson and Blake Martinez – if Roberts does not play. Martinez has yet to be active on gameday since being acquired from the Panthers practice squad just weeks ago.
