San Antonio Spurs Propose trades for two Atlanta Hawks Super Star point Guards.
The San Antonio Spurs have the draft capital to make a deal for either Atlanta Hawks star guards.
The San Antonio Spurs are still trying to find a point guard to complement Victor Wembanyama as a second star.
Devin Vassell has impressed as of late and looks like a bonafide starter on any NBA team, but he does not have the superstar status that the Spurs could use.
Trae Young and Dejounte Murray have been mentioned as a possible trade targets for the Spurs this summer by Bleacher Report.
“This team shouldn’t be afraid to add veteran talent around Wembanyama immediately and try to win,” Bleacher Report writes. “A trade for Trae Young or reunion with Dejounte Murray would be tremendous for the 20-year-old’s development overall.”
There is hope in San Antonio that Young will continue to improve his shooting and that a one-two punch on offense between him and Wembanyama will put the Spurs over the top. Young is currently leading the league in total assists for the third straight season, so he will have no issue finding Wembanyama when he’s open.
There is concern surrounding Young’s defense, which is subpar, but in a lineup featuring Wembanyama, Sochan, and Vassell, having a weak link who would lead the offense wouldn’t end San Antonio’s future title hopes.
When it comes to Murray, there’s experience in Popovich’s system, and a partnership with a true top big man like Wembanyama could elevate his game to a new level.
If the Spurs can swing a deal for Young or Murray this summer and draft high-end players who complement the core, the Spurs could see a rapid turnaround as soon as 2025.
