Mike Tyson sends five-word taunt to Jake Paul as he ramps up training for fight

Tyson will return to the ring for a one-off fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul on July 20 and he delivered a five-word taunt after a recent training session

Mike Tyson has continued to taunt Jake Paul online whilst training hard for their fight in the summer.

Boxing icon ‘Iron Mike’ is gearing up for a comeback fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Tyson, who will be 58 by the time he steps foot in the ring, retired from professional competition almost two decades ago but did fight fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in a November 2020 exhibition.

Paul has been warned by Tyson that you can’t play fighting as the 57-year-old posted a series of photos and videos to his Snapchat story of him training. “Jake Paul, where you at?” Tyson wrote in a picture of him drinking from a bottle after training, before adding: “Fighting is a sport: if you’re not humble, it’s going to bring humbleness to you.”

Paul extended his professional record to 9-1 earlier this month when he knocked out unknown boxer Ryan Bourland in one round. ‘The Problem Child’ had his third fight on the undercard of Tyson’s exhibition against Jones as he left NBA star Nate Robinson facedown on the canvas with a brutal KO.

Some of Tyson’s recent training clips have been questioned after going viral, with critics claiming the clips are outdated. Tyson’s trainer and MMA legend Rafael Cordeiro believes there is no reason for fans to be concerned for Tyson going into the fight as he gave insight into their recent training sessions.

“I believe we don’t have to be concerned about it. We’re talking about a two-time world champion,” Cordeiro said on The MMA Hour. “The guy didn’t have 20 fights in two years, he knows how to fight. He’s fought against the best guys in the world. When he steps inside the ring he knows what to do. It’s not something new for Mike, and this fight is no different.

“He works hard every single day to go in there and try to knock Jake out from the beginning to the end. This is his style, nobody has taught Mike Tyson how to fight. He’s going to prove that in July. You can see fire in his eyes when he trains, and he will never give less than that. I truly believe it is going to be a great show.”
