Breaking News: Texas Longhorns football Super star arrested over the weekend

A Texas football star and current 2024 NFL Draft prospect is in trouble with the law, as ex-Longhorns defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat was arrested on a DWI charge over the weekend.

Sweat was booked into the Travis Co. Jail in Austin, Tex., at 2:12 p.m. on Sunday after being charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. Sweat was released on a $3,000 bond shortly after 4 p.m., according to NBC affiliate KXAN in Austin.

A unanimous first-team All-America selection, Sweat was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Big 12 last season and also took home the Outland Trophy, awarded to the best interior lineman in college football every year, and was instrumental in helping lead Texas to its first College Football Playoff appearance.

He recorded 45 total stops, with eight tackles for loss, and had two sacks as the Longhorns finished the regular season as the No. 3 ranked run defense nationally.

Since declaring for the NFL Draft, Sweat has been heralded by analysts as a likely Day 2 selection, if not earlier, but this incident may have an effect on his eventual draft stock.

NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein has already speculated that the Houston Texans may drop Sweat from their draft board as a result of his legal trouble. Houston posted the NFL’s third-worst run defense a year ago and are in the market for a solid interior presence.

Sweat has taken a personal meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, which he described as very positive.
