JUST-NOW : Titans former super star Derrick Henry reportedly confirm dead at 30 from a fatal car accident 😢😭

The Baltimore Ravens made one of the splashiest moves of the NFL offseason when they signed running back Derrick Henry to a two-year, $16 million contract.

One of the most prolific running backs of the last decade in the NFL, Henry is seemingly a perfect fit with the Ravens’ run-heavy offensive scheme.

According to Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, the team had a simple mindset to landing one of the game’s great running backs.

“If you can’t beat him, sign him,” Harbaugh said on “The Rich Eisen Show” on Thursday, perhaps nodding to the Ravens’ 2019 divisional round loss to Henry and the Tennessee Titans.

Harbaugh said that landing Henry was a straight-forward process for all.

“There was really not much conversation at all because we wanted him to be here and he wanted to be here,’ Harbaugh told Eisen. Harbaugh said the Ravens had been in contact with Henry’s agent to express their interest.

Harbaugh was hesitant to reveal exactly how they want to use Henry in their offense, but he did suggest that the Ravens may pass the ball a bit more or use more pre-snap movement to try to open up things for Henry.

“I think what it’s going to look like is what it looked like in Tennessee: him running for a lot of yards,” Harbaugh said. “Maybe even in some ways we’ll create some opportunities because we’re going to possibly spread the defense out just a little bit more. There won’t be as many eyes on him, maybe not as many helmets directed towards him when he gets the ball, and we’ll be able to create just a little more space for him.”

If the Ravens are able to open up more space for Henry, it could make a difference. After all, there is some risk involved with making Henry the RB1. Henry is now 30, has led the NFL in carries in four of the last five seasons, and has over 2,000 carries and 9,500 rushing yards under his belt for his career. Henry’s rushing efficiency dropped last year, perhaps a sign that he is finally slowing down.

Harbaugh said the Ravens hope to turn their own defensive game-plan for Henry on its head.

“One thing we used to always say with Derrick Henry on defense was, you can’t let him get started. If he gets started, he’s going to be hard to stop. You gotta stop him before he gets started. And hopefully with this offense, that’s going to be really hard to do.”
