The Daily Mail contributed to the buzz, suggesting a close relationship between McIlroy and Balionis, calling them the “talk of the links.” However, neither McIlroy nor Balionis has addressed these rumors publicly.

Ongoing rumors
Balionis is married to football coach Bryan Renner, with their marriage dating back to 2022. The rumors seemed to gain traction following Balionis’ interview with McIlroy on May 12, after his Wells Fargo Championship win.

McIlroy’s camp confirmed his divorce, stating that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” and highlighting that the couple had a prenuptial agreement. The divorce filings also indicated a request for joint custody of their 3-year-old daughter, Poppy.

Despite these personal challenges, McIlroy remains active in his professional career. He recently finished tied for 12th at the PGA Championship at Valhalla and chose not to take part in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club last weekend.
