Former coach of Tiger Woods – has said what a lot of golf fans have feared ahead of the US Open after a video of Woods’ drive was shared on social media

The former coach of Tiger Woods, Hank Haney, admitted what the majority of golf fans have been fearing in the build-up to the US Open – it may be a step too far for him to simply compete at the majors.

With the US Open teeing off on Thursday at Pinehurst No.2, golf enthusiasts have deliberated about where Woods will finish the tournament. The three-time US Open champion has missed the event in the three previous years due to injury and last won the tournament in 2008.

The 48-year-old has also been competing on a limited schedule in recent seasons, which has hampered his ambitions to still be able to contend in majors with him currently ranked 829th in the world.

However, Woods returns to Pinehurst No.2 and fans have been curious to see how the 15-time major winner performs. A clip of Woods driving in slow motion was posted on social media, and his former coach Haney commented what the majority of supporters in the comments section had been pondering.

“Tiger’s swing looks really good but golf might be too hard a game to play once in a while at a high level,” Haney tweeted. The golf instructor is best known for coaching Woods for six years until their relationship ended when Haney informed Woods he would no longer be his coach after The Players Championship in 2010.

“The U.S. Open, our national championship, is a truly special event for our game and one that has helped define my career,” Woods said on receiving the exemption. “I’m honored to receive this exemption and could not be more excited for the opportunity to compete in this year’s U.S. Open, especially at Pinehurst, a venue that means so much to the game.”
