Earlier this month, Murray secured a top-10 finish in the Wells Fargo Championship, finishing the tournament three-under par. Taking to social media following the dominant showing, he wrote: “Great week in Charlotte. Thank you @wellsfargogolf for the support over the years to the @pgatour. Looking forward to the @pgachampionship this week in Louisville!”

Back in October of last year, Murray shared a photo from his 30th birthday festivities, as he and several friends posed in front of a boat. The world No. 58 expressed excitement for what the next ten years would bring, captioning the image: “What an incredible 30th birthday trip with my favorite people. Can’t wait what this decade brings me. GOD IS GREAT.”

In a statement released through the PGA Tour, Murray’s parents confirmed on Sunday that he had taken his own life. “We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone,” Eric and Terry Murray wrote. “It’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It’s a nightmare.
