With tears: Tiger Woods pays emotional tribute after death of beloved member of ‘golf family’ Details below ⬇️

Tributes have been paid to beloved golf writer Steve DiMeglio after he passed away this week following a long battle with cancer as Tiger Woods has penned a heartfelt message to his ‘friend’

Tiger Woods is one of several golfing stars to have written in tribute to USA Today and Golfweek writer, Steve DiMeglio, who had covered the PGA Tour for decades.

DiMeglio sadly passed away this week, aged 63, two years after being diagnosed with rectal cancer. He died on Tuesday or Wednesday while at his home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

He had been openly documenting his battle with cancer after being diagnosed in 2022, learning that it had spread to his liver while undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

DiMeglio had shared his progress with his followers on social media while spreading awareness, hoping to see those to poyentially have worries of their own to go for screenings.

After news emerged that he had passed away this week, Woods was one of many in the golfing words to have spoken in tribute, describing him as a ‘friend’.

Woods tweeted: “Unfortunately the golf world lost part of our family today, beloved golf writer Steve DiMeglio. I was always very close to Steve and we texted and talked about how he needed to keep fighting to get better so we could see each other in the Bahamas last month. And we did. I am so grateful for that. This a very sad day for all of golf. We have truly lost a friend.

Meanwhile, Billy Horschel had tweeted: “Sad day for the golfing world. Steve DiMeglio was one of the most well liked and respected people in the media. We had a great relationship and I always loved our banter back and forth. Even with what he was going through, he kept his spirit about him and would still give me a hard time about my clothing choices. I’m going to miss him greatly, as is the golfing world!”
